UK Brexit

 Road to Brexit

·      Britain has been part of European Union since 1973.
·      But a referendum was held on 23 June 2016, Britain voted to leave the EU.
·      The process of withdrawal (Brexit) began on 29 March 2017.
·      In March 2019, the UK parliament voted for Theresa May to ask the EU to delay Brexit until April, and then later October.
·      Having failed to get her agreement approved, May resigned as prime minister in July and was succeeded by Boris Johnson.
·      He sought to replace parts of the agreement and vowed to leave the EU by the new deadline. On 17 October 2019, the UK government and EU agreed a revised withdrawal agreement, with new arrangements for Northern Ireland.
·      Parliament approved the agreement for further scrutiny but rejected plans to pass it into law before the 31 October deadline, and forced the government (through the 'Benn Act') to ask for a third Brexit delay.
·      An early general election was then held on 12 December. The Conservatives won a majority in that election, with Johnson declaring that the UK would leave the EU in early 2020.  There would then be a transition period until at least 31 December 2020, where the future relationship will be negotiated.
·      All these has been going on with series of debates and negotiations on the amendment of the bill – the government did not think anything other than Brexit.
·      Just yesterday it was reported that the House of Lords finally give up after inflicted repeated defeats to sabotage UK's exit.
·      BREXIT will be delivered by the end of January according to Boris Johnson.
·      But what are some of the things UK citizens will still be permitted to do even when the country is no longer an EU member state?
·      What will Britain look like after Brexit, these are un-voiced questions in the hearts of the citizens.
·      There are so many reasons while Britain is leaving EU – one of the main is to redeem back their land.
·      Israelites exit from Egypt – Exodus. Not an easy passage but God intervened.

Prayer

Is 42:14-16 “For a long time, I, the LORD, have held my temper; now I will scream and groan like a woman giving birth.15 I will destroy the mountains and what grows on them; I will dry up rivers and ponds. 16 I will lead the blind on roads they have never known; I will guide them on paths they have never travelled. Their road is dark and rough, but I will give light to keep them from stumbling. This is my solemn promise.”

·      14 For a long time I have said nothing. I have controlled myself and kept quiet. But now I will cry out like a woman giving birth. My breathing is getting faster and louder. (ERV) - Thank you Lord that now you will intervene
